BLOG : WHAT ‘IS’ JAMES WEARING?

This ‘totes fab’ fashion/interiors blogger not only has me talking like Louie Spence but stuck somewhere in the middle of being in absolute stiches , perplexion as to if this is a serious blog, and up most respect if it is. This blog is a must read for any designer, as James jumps from one party, designer showroom or luxurious spa to the next and with personal fashion descriptions like…

“ I’m sporting a Tom Ford “Country Jacket” in amethyst wool silk tri-color windowpane, glen plaid wool, cashmere tie, black and white silk pocket square and saddle leather loafers, Turnbull and Asser purple cotton shirt with white collar and cuffs, vintage moon stone cuff links, Gucci python belt with silver double horse head buckle, J Brand “Kane” jeans and my fragrance is Creed Windsor.”

….How could you not love him?!

James, lets be friends?

LOUIS VUITTON : TAXIDERMY

Louis Vuitton (in conjunction with chameleon visual)have recently commissioned British artist Billie Achilleos to create these amazing Taxidermy animals that are constructed out of genuine Louis Vuitton bags, purses and accessories, for their 100th anniversary celebration of small leather goods – ‘Collector’. These little critters are being displayed not only in the New Bond Street and New York stores but also appear in the new Sydney George Street “Maison”

2012 : YEAR OF THE BLOG

image via CONFETTISYSTEM

Dear Readers,

Im back! And it’s a brand new year…which means…new year’s resolutions.

I try not to make too many resolutions however this year my number one is to DO MORE BLOGGING! So in keeping with this promise to myself I have made a list of ideas in which I would like (and hopefully will follow through) to incorporate into the catchtag blog.

  1. Introduce the ‘guest blog’. Where I will hassle a few of my most talented and creatively minded friends to do a post on something that they find worth sharing.
  2. Attempt a ‘selby’esc post where I intrusively style and photograph a friends home.
  3. Post more inspiration images. At my work we use the most amazing concept images to sell a design or mood of a space. These images capture the essence of what we are trying to achieve and ‘con’ the client into. I am always trawling though hundreds of images each day so I thought “why not share some of these with you all.”!
  4. Write more… I am a terrible writer and I swear I have dyslexia (or perhaps just didn’t pay enough attention in class) so I will aim to write a little more about my thoughts on design, art and general stuff.
  5. Post more about London. I see so many amazing things in this incredible city I now call home, and I feel I should share these with my international readers.
  6. Highlight the many amazing designers that history has given us. I love to take inspiration for the design masters and since I started my new job my eyes have been widened to the many more I never new about.  I shall call this… the MONDAY MASTERS…or something equally as catchy.

And that’s about it!…wish me luck.

Xx Lauren.

CHANEL : PARIS-BOMBAY 11/12

There is soooooooo much to love about chanels incredible metiers d’art collection. Inspired by India’s Maharajas and lavish palaces, The Galerie Courbe in the Grand Palais was recently transformed into an exotic banquet and runway laden with tiers of dried fruits and an almost comical train and ‘chanel’ carriage running down the length of the runway.

Dull gold, cream and bronze tones teamed with the trademark pearl strings that chanel so beautifully does, a shot of fuchsia pink and ruby red, Karl Lagerfeld is a true genius. i wonder if i could get away with wearing a bejeweled tikka in london this autumn?!

LANA DEL RAY : BORN TO DIE

Check out this stunning clip by up and coming artist Lana Del Ray. Filmed by award winning music film director Yoann Lemoine aka woodkid. The clip reminds me of the Baz Luhrmann 1996 Romeo and Juliette, with its vivacious pallet and roman catholic frames, to the end shot of her bloodied body being held by her lover. Filmed in Paris “the video for ‘Born To Die’ represents the self-penned Gangsta Nancy Sinatra as a woman consumed by dangerous love” – swide.

please watch and love.

ps. I want her nails. hot

FLORENCE LOPEZ : BRIGHT AND BOLD

Florence Lopez (who is also hilariously reffered to as FloLo by Design Crisis) is a unique antiques dealer who has this amazing artist’s studio in the heart of Saint Germain des Prés in Paris. The studio was built in the 1920s and its decor is changed every year in tune with Florence’s favourite designs. I’m now so inspired to do a ‘bold and bright’ interior!…I just need to find a client that will let me.
